Sympathy Vs. Empathy

Sympathy is feelings of pity or sorrow for someone else's misfortune. It is an emotional feelings that is experienced and cannot be forced. If you have sympathy for someone you feel bad for them where you have experienced what they have gone through or not. Most actions associated with sympathy is word of affirmation and comfort. Those who have trouble sympathizing with people can open come across as unapproachable because their social interactions can seem strained. Empathy on the other hand is the intellectual identification or chivalrous expenounce of feelings, thoughts, and attitudes of others. To empathize with someone is to understand another person's condition from their perspective. It is to "Think about Feeling". You don't necessarily feel sorry for them but you understand the situation and how it does affect someone. Empathy also comes with habits or expectations. The United States Growth

The U.S grew as a nation during the 1600's to Civil War by uniting together so they could live in a place where people could live freely . This was not a simple task though. Before the Civil War began the first permanent English settlement in the Americas was Jamestown which did not last. Before the pilgrims even arrived a Dutch ship arrived in Virginia full of slaves, which was the beginning of the problems that would emerge during the Civil war. After the pilgrims came the Mayflower Compact was created which documented the self- government of the colonies which would soon be established to the original 13 colonies. The first major issue that occurred for the new settlers began with the French and Indian War. The war increased the cost for Britian to defend the colonies and instead of taxing British taxpayers Parliament decided to tax the colonials instead.
